Project Description

Harties Cableway is an awesome place for yourself, and for the kids to go to.
N1 Tours embarked on an adventure day for a couple of youths, who might under their circumstances, don’t get out very much.
The excitement when one of the kids saw that we left the Gauteng border into North West. It blessed my heart.

We left on Saturday morning at about 6:45 to get there on time and early enough to have most of the day to enjoy.

Activity Description

The fun doesn’t begin and end with the cable car ride itself. A trip to the top of the mountain will quickly turn into a day of enjoyment away from the pressures of city life.

On top, you feel as if you are in another world, and there is plenty to enjoy in this small paradise.
There is a self-service express restaurant at the top of the cableway where you can buy light meals to enjoy on the terrace or at one of the viewing decks. You may also want to sip on a cocktail at the bar while admiring the view from the terrace.

If you have children, why not sit under the shade at one of the picnic tables and watch them play on the jungle gym in the Kidzone play area?
You can do some shopping at the Little Shop at the Top, or just sit back and enjoy nature, taking in the tranquillity and the calls of the birds. You may well be lucky enough to see some endangered vultures circling overhead, from the nearby vulture sanctuary.

To help visitors explore the mountain, the Harties Cableway has set out the 1km Dassie Loop walkway. Informative signs along the way explain points of interest that you can see from atop the mountain; on a clear day you can see the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg, most of Brits and even some of Pretoria.

The kids had their fun, it was a first time for me as well, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.

If you want to break away just for yourself, or for the whole family, you will not regret going. With a view like that, you will not get bored.

You can take the kids, or yourself, with your mountain bike and ride on the dirt track. If you feel very adventurous you can take the cableway up with your bike and take the cycle route down the mountain.

Take your super zoom camera with, on a clear day you can take some awesome picks as you have a great vantage point. Nature is awesome. Maybe you will see some wildlife from the cable car, by wildlife I mean the monkeys :).

Go, take your family, or just yourself, and spend some time there. It is good for the soul…
